About Erica Kiesewetter
Violinist and Continuing Associate Professor Erica Kiesewetter has been on the faculty of the Bard College Music Department since 2010, where she retains a private studio and is also the Associate Conductor of the Bard College Community Orchestra . She additionally holds classes in Advanced Orchestral Audition Preparation (fall) and Upper String Practice and Technique (spring).She is the Director of Orchestral Studies for the Bard Conservatory and Professor of Orchestral Studies for the graduate orchestra, The Orchestra Now.
Erica Kiesewetter has been performing at Bard College since the inception of the Bard Music Festival in 1990 and has been the concertmaster of the American Symphony Orchestra since 2001. In the height of her violin performing career she was concertmaster of seven orchestras in the New York area, and previous to that was a member of the Colorado Quartet and Leonardo Trio and frequent guest with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, with whom she toured and recorded frequently. Her recording of the Berg Violin Concerto with the ASO and Leon Botstein can be heard on I-Tunes, and her solo appearance on a recording of the music of Granados was recently nominated for a Grammy. She was a student of the great violin pedagogue Ivan Galamian, among many others.
